"Ces bottes sont faites pour marcher."

marcialonga is the first single release of my upcoming debut album Solsirépifpan, featuring Harri Kuusijärvi.

for me an entrance, of sorts, into the record factory.

originally conceived as a piece for solo percussion for Petteri Kippo, marcialonga was performed, amongst others, on former Swedish army trekking skis.

the name comes from the marathon skiing competition in Northern Italy.

the sounds of the winter sport percussion are here arranged and played by Harri Kuusijärvi on his electronically extended accordion of his own devising.

the upcoming album Solsirépifpan is a musical portrait of its namesake Solsirépifpan, who was an acclaimed 19th century Parisian entertainer and one of the first modern bands-of-one.

a soundscape of a year in the life of a band-of-one. what they play. what they hear. where they walk. what they eat. who they meet.

the music on this upcoming album is arranged together with Harri Kuusijärvi from the four pieces of my 'Union' c​ycle of chamber music, written in 2017-18.
